Shuttle Bus Service Available to Pimlico Race Course
BALTIMORE, MD (May15, 2024) –The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is encouraging horse racing fans attending the Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 18, to leave their vehicles at home and take fast, affordable public transportation to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Taking Local Bus, Light Rail, Metro Subway or MARC Train to this year’s festivities is a hassle-free and ecofriendly journey to enjoy the second jewel of racing’s Triple Crown.
“We’re excited to welcome fans to Preakness and want to ensure that everyone has a smooth experience getting to the event,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “By taking public transit, riders can avoid the stress of traffic and high parking fees and enjoy a safe, reliable and affordable way to enjoy the day.”
The fare for all local MTA services is $2 one-way and $4.60 for a day pass, which includes unlimited travel on Local Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway trains. Shuttle buses will run from Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station, Cold Spring Lane Light Rail Stop and Poly-Western High School to take people to and from Pimlico Race Course.
Riders can use the CharmPass mobile ticketing app for fast and easy access to fares. The Transit app provides riders the ability to track their bus, light rail train or metro subway train in real time. Both the CharmPass and Transit apps are free to download onto smartphones.
Below is a list of transit options available to bring fans to Pimlico. For details, visit mta.maryland.gov.
LOCAL BUS – Local buses 30, 31, 34, 85, 91 and 94 all stop near the track.
LIGHT RAIL – Take Light Rail to the Cold Spring Lane stop. Connecting shuttle bus service from Cold Spring Lane to Pimlico runs between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and return shuttle service to Cold Spring Lane ends two hours after the Jack Harlow concert.
A $4.60 day pass is required.
METRO SUBWAY – Take Metro Subway to Rogers Avenue station. Connecting shuttle bus service from Rogers Ave to Pimlico runs between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and return shuttle service to Rogers Ave ends two hours after the Jack Harlow concert. A $4.60 day pass is required.
MARC TRAIN – From Penn Station, take the Penn-Camden shuttle bus to the North Avenue Light Rail stop then take a northbound Light Rail train to the Cold Spring Lane stop. Connecting shuttle bus service from Cold Spring Lane to Pimlico runs between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and return shuttle service to Cold Spring Lane ends two hours after the Jack Harlow concert.
A $4.60 Day Pass and MARC Train ticket is required.
