Maryland Transit Administration Launches Earth Day Youth Art Competition

Winning Designs from Youth Ages 5 to 17 to Appear on a Specially Wrapped  Earth Day Bus 

BALTIMORE, MD (February 20, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is pleased to announce an artwork contest for youth ages five (5) through seventeen (17) to promote environmental awareness in celebration of Earth Day. The winning designs will appear on a special Earth Day bus. Competition guidelines and submission details are available at mta.maryland.gov/EarthDayArt.

“We’re excited to see Maryland’s young talent showcase their creativity and understanding of eco-friendly transportation options,” said Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul Wiedefeld.

“Taking transit is a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice Maryland families can make right now,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “The Maryland Transit Administration’s Earth Day art competition is a great opportunity for young Marylanders to engage with our transit system and tell their community what Earth Day means to them.”

Youth are invited to submit designs highlighting environmental conservation and the positive aspects of public transportation. Selected designs will appear on a specially wrapped Earth Day bus, promoting eco-friendly transportation choices.
