FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARC Train Partners with U.S. Marine Corps Reserves for 29th Consecutive Year

BALTIMORE, MD (December 1, 2023)The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is proud to continue its partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program for the 29th consecutive year. MARC Train will be participating in two events; a holiday toy drive Saturday, December 2nd at the MARC Station in Brunswick, Fredrick County; and the annual toy collection drive at Washington Union Station December 12th -14th.

"MTA is honored to support the Toys for Tots program for the 29th year," said MDOT MTA Administrator Holly Arnold. “Thanks to our generous MARC Train riders, we’ve been able to connect more than destinations, we’ve been able to connect communities, and spread the joy of the holiday season."

Since 1994, Maryland Transit Administration has contributed to the collection and distribution of toys during the holiday season. This is the second year MARC train is partnering with the City of Brunswick for a toy collection during the city’s annual holiday event. The event on Saturday, December 2, includes Santa train rides, a festive parade, and culminates with tree lighting. Attendees may drop off toys between 12 pm and 5 pm at the MARC station. All toys collected will benefit Frederick County Toys for Tots.

Continuing tradition, MTA encourages riders to join in the spirit of giving by contributing new, unwrapped toys as they board or exit their MARC Train at Washington Union Station.  Volunteers from MARC Train will be outside Gates A and B from 6 a.m. -12:30 p.m. December 12th – 14th.

For those unable to donate in-person at the events in Brunswick or Washington DC, there is also the option to donate at local area toy drop-off centers listed on the Toys for Tots website or donate online through the Virtual Toybox at toysfortots.org.
