Pride in the Park Event at Druid Hill Park
BALTIMORE, MD (June 23, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is celebrating Pride Month by taking part in Baltimore’s Pride Parade and Pride in the Park events the weekend of June 24-25. Participation in the Pride events underscores the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
“At the Maryland Transit Administration, we are committed to celebrating diversity and supporting equal rights for all,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “Celebrating Pride is just one way we can show our support for the LGBTQ+ members within our organization and throughout the region.”
The Maryland Transit Administration’s eye-catching, specially wrapped Pride bus serves as a visual affirmation of the agency’s commitment to diversity. This year’s bus is wrapped in the Progress Pride Flag colors and will be a centerpiece of the Pride Parade on Saturday, June 24. Maryland Transportation Secretary Paul J. Wiedefeld, Administrator Arnold and more than 80 staff are scheduled to participate in the event. The agency will continue supporting Baltimore Pride festivities by participating in the Pride in the Park event Sunday, June 25.
“The Maryland Department of Transportation has the goal of advancing every mode of travel for everyone, and to uplift our residents and our future,” said Secretary Wiedefeld. “In the same way, we are committed to equity and inclusion for all of our neighbors. As we celebrate Pride, we recognize strength in our differences and come together for the good of all.”

Pride Month is celebrated in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. The Stonewall Uprising is considered a tipping point for the gay rights movement in the United States.
