Fan Friendly: MARC Camden Line Moves Special Midday Train to Friday, April 7, After Orioles Reschedule Home Opener

Orioles Fans Can Catch the Special MARC Train on Friday to Reach Camden Yards for Rescheduled Home Opener

BALTIMORE, MD (April 5, 2023) – Due to the postponement of the Baltimore Orioles’ home opener from Thursday, April 6, to Friday, April 7, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration will NOT run its special midday MARC Camden Line train from Washington, D.C. to Orioles Park at Camden Yards this Thursday, but instead will move that special MARC service to Friday so fans along the corridor won’t miss any of the Orioles action.

The special Camden Line MARC train will depart Union Station in Washington at 1 p.m. Friday, making all stops except for Laurel Racetrack, Jessup and St. Denis on its way to Camden Station. Passengers will arrive at the ballpark in plenty of time for the first pitch at 3:05 p.m. Riders can make the return trip after the game on the regularly scheduled MARC Train 859, which leaves Camden Station at 6:15 p.m. or 30 minutes after the last out of the game, whichever is later.

Catch the Orioles All Season with Local Bus, Metro SubwayLink and Light RailLink

While the special midday MARC service is available only for the home opener, fans are invited to use transit to get to Orioles games all season and avoid the stress of traffic and expensive parking. Below is a list of convenient transit options:

LIGHT RAIL - Orioles fans can take Light Rail from 32 different stops to the Camden Yards stop, located next to Oriole Park. Light Rail operates every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day and your destination. Additional Transit Ambassadors will be available at the Hunt Valley, Timonium Fairgrounds, Lutherville, Convention Center, Camden Yards, North Linthicum and Glen Burnie Light Rail stops to answer transit questions.

METRO SUBWAY - Fans also can ride the Metro Subway to Lexington Market or Charles Center Station-West and walk to Oriole Park. Metro Subway operates every eight to 15 minutes. Free parking is available at Owings Mills, Old Court, Milford Mill, Reisterstown Plaza, Rogers Avenue, West Cold Spring and Mondawmin stations.

LOCAL BUS - Ride any of the three CityLink routes (Navy, Yellow and Brown) and five LocalLink routes (51, 54, 73, 76, and 94) that pass near Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The fare for all local transit services is $2 one-way and $4.60 for a Day Pass, which includes unlimited travel on Local Buses, Light Rail and Metro Subway for the day. Return service on Light Rail and Metro Subway for games ending after the last scheduled departure will be extended for one hour past the regularly scheduled final train.

Maryland Transit Administration also offers two free smartphone apps make transit rides even easier:

  • Transit app - Riders can use the Transit app to view real-time information on train and bus locations, predicted arrival times and step-by-step navigation. In addition, riders using the app receive alerts on service disruptions. For information on the Transit app, go to mta.maryland.gov/transit.
  • CharmPass app - CharmPass is a secure mobile ticketing app that eliminates the need for using cash for transit rides. With CharmPass, customers can purchase their ride right from their smartphone. Tickets can be purchased using a credit or debit card and with PayPal. CharmFlex three- and 10-day passes provide a convenient pass option for those fans that regularly use transit to get to the game.
