Police Highlight Transit Safety and Listen to Feedback
BALTIMORE, MD (August 1, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) Police will host events at two local transit stations in Baltimore in support of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2. National Night Out activities are designed to strengthen relationships between police and the community.
“National Night Out gives MDOT MTA officers and community members a chance to interact in a fun, informal setting,” said MDOT MTA Chief of Police Col. Jerome Howard, Jr. “Safety is the top priority of MDOT MTA. Events like these give our officers an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to transit safety and listen to community concerns.”
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, MDOT MTA Police representatives will be at the Patapsco Light RailLink Station at 751 W. Patapsco Ave., and at the Rogers Avenue Metro SubwayLink Station at 4301 Hayward Ave. MDOT MTA Police staff will meet with riders to discuss transit safety and listen to feedback on the services MDOT MTA Police provide. Police also will share information on how to join the department.
MDOT MTA has been recognized as the safest transit system among the top 12 U.S. transit agencies for seven years thanks in part to strong community relationships. MDOT MTA Police look forward to meeting with community members during National Night Out and encourage all residents interested in promoting a safer community to join them for this free event.
