MARC Train taking part in holiday collection of toys, monetary donations
BALTIMORE, MD (DECEMBER 10, 2019) – For 25 years, the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) has been proud to support the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. This year, MARC Train, along with Amtrak and Bombardier Transportation Service, are encouraging passengers to participate in the toy collection on Wednesday, December 11, and Thursday, December 12, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The collection will take place outside Gates A and B at Washington Union Station.
“MDOT MTA is proud of MARC Train’s commitment to the Toys for Tots drive,” said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. “As an agency, we look forward to joining our riders to serve those in need.”
Volunteers from MARC Train, Amtrak, Bombardier, and the U.S. Marines will be on hand throughout the day December 11 and 12 to collect donations of new, unwrapped toys, or cash and checks as passengers board or exit their MARC Train. Riders preferring to donate online can do so at toysfortots.org.
MARC Train has participated in the Toys for Tots drive since 1994. Last year, MARC Train collected 872 toys and $28,400. MDOT MTA appreciates the continuing generosity of our riders.
