MDOT MTA Police Honored by Operation Gratitude with First Responder Care Pouches

Pouches distributed to entire MDOT MTA Police force

 

BALTIMORE, MD (November 21, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) Police was honored to be the recipient of care pouches from Operation Gratitude for the entire force during the November 20 morning roll call. Each pouch includes a variety of items for first responders on the go: protein bars, cleaning wipes, sunscreen, and a hand-made paracord bracelet,

 

“MDOT MTA Police want to thank Operation Gratitude for its generosity and consideration,” said MDOT MTA Chief of Police Colonel John E. Gavrilis. “Our officers appreciate the support and recognition of their efforts to keep our transit system safe for all riders.”

 

Operation Gratitude is a nonprofit that works to honor the nation’s military personnel and first responders. Since launching its First Responder Care Pouch Program in 2017, the organization has distributed more than 125,000 first responder care pouches to over 350 departments across the United States. These red care pouches are designed to fit in a squad car or locker. 

 

During distribution on Wednesday, MDOT MTA officers were greeted by Gold Star Mothers, women who have lost their children in the service to our country. MDOT MTA appreciates their outreach efforts in the Baltimore region.
