Downtown Baltimore Light RailLink Service to Resume at 5 a.m. Monday, August 19

Service Fully Operational Between Hunt Valley and BWI Airport

BALTIMORE, MD (August 18, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will resume regular Light RailLink service between the Camden and North Avenue stops beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, August 19. Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has completed repairs caused by a July 8 water main break near Pratt and Howard streets.

"I am gratified that we can announce the full restoration of our downtown Light RailLink service in time for Monday morning commuters," said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. "We appreciate the patience of our riders as Baltimore City DPW worked to complete the necessary repairs."

During the repair efforts, free shuttle buses were provided to accommodate passengers at all impacted Light RailLink stops between Camden and North Avenue. Transit Ambassadors will be at Light RailLink stops to assist passengers during the restoration of service. Updates will be provided to riders on Facebook at facebook.com/mtamaryland, on Twitter at @mtamaryland, the MDOT MTA website, mta.maryland.gov, and via e-alert notification system.

MDOT MTA also recently completed maintenance work between Falls Road and North Avenue stops. With Monday's reopening, the entire system between Hunt Valley and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is fully operational, making it a fast and affordable way to travel to this week's Orioles games and the upcoming Maryland State Fair.

MDOT MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States. MDOT MTA operates a Local Bus and Commuter Bus network, as well as Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, MARC Train service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system. MDOT MTA's goal is to provide safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service.
