ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 08, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) today announced the opening of applications for the Statewide Transit Innovation Grant (STIG) program for fiscal year 2020. Transit agencies and governments in Maryland can apply for up to $1.5 million in discretionary state funding to plan, design or construct innovative transit projects. This program delivers on MDOT’s commitment to invest in the multi-modal transportation needs of all Marylanders.
“We strive to support efficient, customer-focused transit systems that best meet the needs of all Marylanders,” said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. “This is an exciting opportunity for our agency to support local efforts across the state.”
Eligible projects will enhance regional transit performance by: improving trip reliability; reducing travel times; enhancing system recognition; improving safety and security; and maximizing bus capacity and comfort. Eligible projects can be in the planning, design, engineering or construction phases.
