Metro SubwayLink Resumes Normal Service Between Johns Hopkins Hospital and Shot Tower Stations Today

Interlocking Track Work is Completed Four Days Ahead of Schedule

BALTIMORE, MD (March 30, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) today resumed normal service on Metro SubwayLink between the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Shot Tower stations. Beginning in mid-February, trains were single tracking while crews reconstructed interlockings at the Johns Hopkins Hospital station. Interlockings are key rail components that allow trains to cross from one track to another.

"We are pleased that this critical maintenance work has been completed ahead of schedule," said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn. "I want to thank our customers for their patience during this construction period."

During construction MDOT MTA kept riders informed of schedule changes through station signage, station announcements, social media, the MDOT MTA website and the e-alert notification system. Passengers with questions can also call the Transit Information Contact Center at 410-539-5000.

MDOT MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States. MDOT MTA operates LocalLink and commuter buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, MARC Train service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system. MDOT MTA’s goal is to provide safe, efficient and reliable transit across Maryland with world-class customer service.
