Emergency Erosion Repair Will Cause Partial Light RailLink Service Suspension

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Beginning Tomorrow, Free Bus Bridge Will Transport Passengers From

North Avenue to Falls Road Light RailLink Stops

BALTIMORE, MD (MARCH 29, 2019) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will initiate emergency repairs to address ground erosion near the Cold Spring Lane Light RailLink stop.  Repair work will begin tomorrow and will be completed on Wednesday, April 3. Full Light RailLink service will resume on Thursday, April 4, to accommodate riders traveling to the Orioles’ Opening Day at Camden Yards. Free shuttle buses will accommodate passengers from Falls Road, Cold Spring Lane, Mt. Washington, Woodberry, and North Avenue stations during this period.

“The safety of our passengers and employees is our number one priority,” said MDOT MTA Chief Operations Officer Sean Adgerson. “We appreciate our customers’ patience during this brief service disruption and will work to restore Light RailLink service as quickly as possible.”

Inspections conducted in the area determined last week’s heavy rain caused erosion near the tracks at Cold Spring Lane. MDOT MTA will provide updates to riders via social media, the MDOT MTA website and e-alert notification system.

MDOT MTA is one of the largest multi-modal transit systems in the United States. MDOT MTA operates LocalLink and commuter buses, Light RailLink, Metro SubwayLink, MARC Train service and a comprehensive Mobility paratransit system.
