Maryland Department of Transportation MTA to Temporarily Close Light Rail Stations North of Timonium for Track Work, May 12-15

Bus Bridge Will Transport Passengers Between Hunt Valley and Timonium Fairgrounds Stations

BALTIMORE, MD (MAY 12, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will temporarily halt Light Rail service this weekend north of Timonium for essential track repairs.

The shutdown will begin on Friday, May 12, at 6 p.m., with full service resuming on Monday, May 15, at 5 a.m. Light Rail stations that will be closed include Hunt Valley, Pepper Road, McCormick Road, Gilroy Road and Warren Road.

To minimize the inconvenience to customers, MDOT MTA will run free shuttle bus service in both directions from the Hunt Valley Light Rail Station south to Timonium Fairgrounds. The bus will stop at each of the closed stations during normal hours.

"Completing essential track work in a timely and safe manner is key to operating a successful transit system – especially one that is 25 years old," said MDOT MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib. "We hope our passengers understand the repairs mean we all will enjoy a safer, more reliable Light Rail system going forward."

Passengers are asked to plan ahead and allow extra time when using Light Rail service this weekend.
