BALTIMORE, MD (MAY 20, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) anticipates that the Mount Washington, Coldspring and Woodberry Light Rail stops will be closed on Saturday, May 20. These stations will likely have no Light Rail service due to fallen trees and BGE poles along the Light Rail route from Falls Road south to North Avenue. Customers heading to the Preakness should consider alternative routes.
MDOT MTA is working closely with BGE to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Crews will be working throughout the night to try and clear the tracks and restore power. In the likelihood that service is not restored, MDOT MTA will be implementing a limited bus bridge to bypass those stations, but it may add up to an hour on a customer’s trip.
Customers traveling from the Glen Burnie and points south via the Light Rail will be minimally impacted. These customers will be able to take the Light Rail to the North Avenue Station, where a shuttle bus will allow them to complete the trip to Pimlico.
There will be service tomorrow on the northern portion of Light Rail from Hunt Valley to Falls Road.
Customers are urged to consider Metro Subway or Local Bus service as an alternative. Customers can utilize the following options to access Pimlico via Local Bus or Metro Subway:
Local Bus Service to Pimlico
•Nos. 27, 91, 44 lines, plus, No. 54 via Park Heights Avenue all stop near the track
•$1.70 round trip or $4:00 Day Pass
Metro Subway Service To Pimlico
•Take Metro Subway to the Rogers Avenue Station
•Take the connecting Shuttle Bus to the track. Shuttle Bus service to Pimlico begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.
•Return Shuttle Bus service runs all day to Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station with expanded return service beginning at 6:15 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.
•$4.00 Day Pass required
