MDOT MTA Resumes Light Rail Service Sunday, May 21, at the Normal Sunday Start Time of 10 A.M. at Mount Washington, Coldspring and Woodberry Stations

Transit Crews Worked Around the Clock to Get Services Up and Running for Customers

BALTIMORE, MD (MAY 21, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) will resume normal operations of Light Rail service today at the normal Sunday start time of 10 a.m.at the Mount Washington, Coldspring and Woodberry stops. Service at these stations has been disrupted since Friday afternoon due to fallen trees and BGE poles along the Light Rail route from Falls Road south to North Avenue.

MDOT MTA and BGE crews worked around the clock to clear the tracks and restore power. During the Light Rail service disruption, shuttle buses were used to transport passengers through the area.

“I am pleased to announce that through the hard work and dedication of the MDOT MTA staff and employees we are able to resume normal Light Rail operations today,” said MDOT MTA Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Rail Operations Erich Kolig. “The safety of our customers and employees is always our No. 1 priority. I also want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while we have diligently worked to restore service.”
